Italy

I used to think France had the most breathtaking cathedrals, but that all changed the moment I stepped foot in Italy. This country, built on centuries of faith, radiates a profound sense of spirituality from the very first breath you take upon arrival. The sheer wealth of history and sacred relics on display pulls you in immediately, creating an intimate connection to your faith and to something far greater than yourself.

Walking among Michelangelo’s magnificent marble sculptures, breathtaking paintings, and architectural masterpieces, I felt an indescribable kinship with the artist and the depth of his creations. Exploring the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire felt like stepping into a living time capsule, while wandering the corridors of the Colosseum left me both utterly fascinated and quietly haunted.

The food was nothing short of a culinary revelation, and the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Italian people made us feel truly at home from the start. Italy welcomed us with open arms, and its beauty left an indelible mark on my heart. I can’t wait to return and soak in even more of its magic.

In the Greek Cross Room of the Vatican Museums in Rome, Italy, rests a remarkable mosaic from the 3rd century CE, hailing from Tusculum, a prominent ancient Roman city in the Latium region. At its center stands Athena, also known as Minerva, the revered goddess of war, encircled by the phases of the moon.

Many of these sacred images were put in place to protect the houses they are attached to as well as the roads they watch over.

San Pietro in Vincoli, a basilica in Rome, is home to Michelangelo's renowned statue of Moses, originally part of Pope Julius II’s tomb commissioned in 1505. Although the grand project was scaled down, the statue remains a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture.
